A well-known and highly established Tier 1 design practice is seeking a Director of Projects (Senior Associate level) to join their Sydney studio. This practice is recognised nationally for delivering large-scale, complex projects with strong design integrity and disciplined project execution.
With a substantial portfolio across Multi-Residential developments, the studio continues to deliver high-value, design-led projects at scale. Their work is commercially astute, technically rigorous, and strategically managed — requiring strong leadership at the project level.
This is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced project runner who is confident overseeing multiple large-scale residential projects simultaneously while managing and mentoring several teams. You will sit within the senior leadership structure, working closely with a Principal to ensure projects are strategically led, commercially viable, and delivered to the highest standard.

In the role as Director of Projects, you’ll be:

Leading the delivery of multiple large-scale Multi-Residential projects concurrently

Overseeing project performance from concept through to completion

Managing and mentoring Project Architects, Associates, and wider project teams

Controlling project programs, budgets, and resourcing
-
Working closely with the Principal to maintain strategic oversight
-
Acting as a senior point of contact for clients and stakeholders
-
Driving consultant coordination and ensuring project alignment
-
Maintaining design integrity while ensuring commercial and technical rigour
-
Contributing to broader studio leadership discussions and operational strategy
In the role as Director of Projects, we require you to have:

10–12+ years’ experience within Australian architectural or design practice
-
Proven experience delivering large-scale Multi-Residential projects
-
Demonstrated capability running multiple projects and teams simultaneously
-
Strong commercial acumen and program management expertise
-
Established leadership experience at Senior Associate or equivalent level
-
Excellent communication skills and confidence managing clients and consultants
-
Strong understanding of Australian building codes and construction processes
-
Bachelor or Master of Architecture (or equivalent qualification)
