Role: Associate Principal – Health Sector Project Delivery

Join a top-tier national architectural practice leading the delivery of one of Australia’s largest and most complex health developments — a landmark, billion-dollar hospital project setting new benchmarks in design, innovation, and patient care.
Reporting directly to the Health Principal, this key Associate Principal Architect (2IC) position will see you take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day schematic design phases through to project completion. You will lead teams, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure seamless project outcomes while maintaining design integrity and quality throughout all phases.
This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a technically astute and highly organised architect who thrives on managing large-scale, complex projects and guiding teams through design and delivery in the health sector.
Essential Requirements:
- 10-15+ years professional experience in architecture, ideally with exposure to large-scale health or institutional projects
- Proven experience managing and coordinating large project teams across multiple disciplines
- Comprehensive knowledge of project delivery processes, documentation, and construction administration
- Proficiency in Revit and strong technical and detailing capability
- Registration as an Architect in Australia (or eligibility)
- Strong understanding of Australian building codes, health facility guidelines, and compliance standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate design teams under pressure
- Excellent stakeholder and consultant management skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication
- Full working rights in Australia
- Current experience managing staff and must have previously worked on million dollar large scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as 2IC to the Health Principal, managing the project’s full lifecycle across design development, documentation, and delivery
- Lead and coordinate a large architectural and consultant team to achieve design and delivery milestones
- Maintain oversight of all project processes, workflows, and quality controls
- Liaise directly with clients, health authorities, contractors, and project managers
- Ensure all project documentation meets technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements
- Manage program, budget, and risk in conjunction with the Principal
- Oversee on-site activities, respond to RFIs, and resolve complex technical issues
- Represent the practice in key meetings and presentations
- Foster a culture of collaboration, technical excellence, and accountability within the team
