How To Write A Successful Resume

At Mega Recruitment, we see countless resumes, and here’s what we notice the most successful ones have in common: clear, professional structure and tailored content.

Remember, to the employer, you ARE your resume, it’s your first impression and your ticket to an interview!

You want it to reflect your best self, including your qualifications, skills, experience, and, importantly, your personality! Make it easy for hiring managers and recruiters to see your value!

These are the main things we look out for:
1. Contact Information
Your name, phone, email, and (optionally) LinkedIn profile. Make it easy for employers to reach you!

2. Professional Summary or Objective
Who are you? What are your key strengths, and what you’re looking for?

3. Key Skills
Show us your skills! These can include things like teamwork or specific technology programs. A tip: Use keywords from the job ad to show alignment with what the employers want.

4. Work Experience
List roles in REVERSE chronological order. Your most recent/relevant position down to the first job you had at McDonald’s. Include:
– Job title, company, dates
– 2–5 bullet points highlighting achievements and responsibilities.

5. Education
Include your degree or qualification, institution, and graduation date (or expected date). Relevant certifications can go here too!

6. Additional Sections (if relevant)
• Projects or portfolios
• Volunteer work
• Languages

7. References
You will eventually be asked for references, so including them upfront can eliminate that step of enquiry. However, this is optional. You can simply write “References available upon request” if you prefer to be notified before a company contacts your referees.

Tips:
– Tailor your resume for each job.
– Use clear headings and clean formatting.
– Keep it to 1–2 pages.
– Be careful of your spelling!
– Don’t make your resume look too busy: keep it clean and easy to read. Make sure to outline your duties and your projects & involvement clearly so employers can see both your responsibilities and the specific contributions you’ve made.
